2010 has been a year that 3D playback enter the mainstream. The highly sucessful 3-D movie Avatar has also aided in the speed of this growth. After being left behind by other major electronics giants in this 3D game, Denon have just proclaimed that they will be launching two new blu-ray players that will be 3D capable. New firmware updates promised by Denon will make these bluray players fully 3D compatible.
Leading the lineup is the cheapest model Denon DBP-1611UD which is priced reasonably at $399. This is a price that will get a lot of attention from videophiles. The superior model Denon DBP-2011UDCI is better equipped and comes with with better video processing chips from Anchor Bay and latest Burr Brown 32bit/192kHz DACs. Denon have priced it higher at $799.
They are ‘universal’ players indicating they play all types of disc formats which includes the high res DVD-Audio and SACD audio formats, which is something not common among consumer products. They include sturdy construction and provide good sound which is the characteristic of Denon equipment.
The new Denons also come with YouTube and Netflix streaming which is a first for Denon. Also standard is the inclusion of 1GB of onboard memory which makes it suitable for installing BD-Live content. Capabilities like Kodak Picture CD compatibility, as well as DivX HD, MP3 and WMA playback are added to make using it more enjoyable at home. 36-Bit Deep Color support is also included even though ther aren’t any discs that have this at the moment. So get one of these players if you intend to future proof your purchase.
